Some wallpapers for your netbook

I downloaded the above images from deviantart.com and resized it according to the Aspire one's desktop resolution.

Readyboost in Windows XP

Its easy to use a readyboost device in Windows XP similar to Windows Vista, all you have to do is plug-in the device, press Windows key+pause break key to bring up system properties, then click on advanced tab.

Now under the performance section, click settings and click advanced options tab. Under the virtual memory section press change and select the external device, select system managed size and click set.

Now Windows will prompt you to reboot, reboot its all done. I use a 1 GB SD card for this purpose, you can use any memory cards or an usb flash drive.

Enjoy..!

Updating your Aspire One's Bios

Updating Aspire One's bios is little tricky but you can perform it easily using the following instructions

1. Goto http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?recordid=5814&formid=3394&website=AcerPanAm.com/au&siteid=8116&words=all&keywords=&areaid=12 and download the file Flash BIOS v3309

2. Download Unetbootin from http://sourceforge.net/projects/unetbootin/

5. Open the program you'll find two drop down list boxes on top

6. In the select distribution list box select freedos, select the usb drive and click ok.

7. After downloading it'll prompt you to reboot, Now do not reboot.

8. Extract all the files from the Bios zip file into the USB disk.

9. Restart the machine, press f12 and select the USB disk.

10 . Now choose option 5 live.

11. Goto c:\

12. Run 3309.bat

13. After the flashing process the system will reboot.

Installing Windows Vista on an Aspire One

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my netbook a few days back, its performance was awesome. You can enable the Aero Interface using this driver http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=2482&DwnldID=16753&strOSs=164&OSFullName=Windows%20Vista*%2032&lang=eng

I used a standard 3-cell battery, and it lasted for about 2 hrs 45 mins, my computer rating was 2.7, you can add some more ram to get a better rating.

Have a look at my video.
